    Mesmerized

    This one's for you WWJD

On Sunday night, I'm playing volleyball at the stinky sewer sand courts.  There's this girl on the team we're playing against who is wearing a white tank top made out of that sports fabric stuff (you know the semi-shiny, stay-cool/stay-dry stuff).  It's a very low cut top and shows off her boobs to great advantage.  I consider this appropriate volleyball attire, in case anyone is wondering.  What was really notable about this girl, aside from the largeness of her boobs, was that she had the most incredible nip-ons for the whole game.  No joke.  It wasn't cold out or anything, but there they were, 45 solid minutes of solid nip-ons.  I was thinking maybe she should go rub them to warm them up or something.  I was almost mesmerized by her nipples.  In fact, I don't think I'd recognize her unless I saw her wearing that exact same top again.

This puts me in mind of an episode of Sex and the City where the girls try out these fake nipples.  Basically, you stick these things in your bra to give you the appearance of having nip-ons all the time.  Attracts the guys apparently.

So guys, nip-ons:  turn on, yes or no?

    Places Sand Shouldn't Go

It's Tuesday, which in the summer means volleyball night.  Tonight we got to experience all types of weather.  Raging winds.  Heat and humidity.  Pouring rain.  Cool post-rain wind.

I also got to experience playing against Corey's team.  And also to experience Corey playing shirtless.  And seeing Corey smile at me.  He has beautiful teeth.

There's something about rolling around in the sand after being soaked by a rainstorm. It's good for the soul.  The sand of course, has migrated to places that sand should never, ever go.  And with that, I'm off to shower.  Did I mention that my shower has a masturbation setting?  Did I mention that Corey played volleyball shirtless tonight?

    It's Not Actually A Beach ...

On Sunday nights, I play "beach" volleyball.  However, unlike on Tuesday nights, the games are not actually played at a beach.  They are played on sand courts that are set up behind an arena.  The closest water source, from what I can tell, is the sewage treatment plant that's a stone's throw away, and often adds that extra olfactory delight to the games.

And so, I have to wonder why, given that this is not a beach and there is no possibility of swimming, and given that volleyball starts at 6:00, which is well past peak tanning hours, people find it necessary to wear bathing suits to play volleyball.  The first thing I see upon my arrival last night is a girl in a bikini.  And not a sports like bikini such as those worn by real beach volleyball players, a non-supportive show off bikini.  I'm all for showing off your body, if that's what you want to do, but this is a volleyball court.  Show off your body in tight sports gear.  And then, there was a guy in a green speedo.  Now, the generally bad fashion sense of speedos aside, this might have been a bonus had the guy had a speedo class body, but, not so much.  We speculated that maybe it was a strategy to distract the other team.  Sadly, the zoom on my phone camera was insufficient to capture a photo of the guy.  Or perhaps that's not so sad.

So, I'd like to start a movement.  Volleyball players for the wearing of appropriate volleyball attire when on the court.  Bikinis are for the beach or pool.  Speedos, well, are best for very private occasions.

    Wheeeee!

Played volleyball at the beach tonight.  Unlike Sunday nights, which so far have been rainy, cold, windy, or all 3, the Tuesday night weather has been awesome.  And tonight was a good night.  I was on my game tonight.

Good news.  For those of you that might vaguely remember me going on and on about it last summer -- Corey, the Matthew McConaughey lookalike from last year is back.  We played against his team tonight.  Sadly, he has cut his hair.  Real short.  But that's ok, cause he's still very easy to look at.  I can even live with the fact that he was wearing big sunglasses.  Odd for a guy.  However, I'm choosing to believe that he's just into fashion.  And not gay.  Not that there's anything wrong with being gay, but for the love of God, I do not want to be fantasizing about a gay man.  I mean really.  Enough is enough.

    Anyway...

60K coming up this weekend.  If you would like to come out and cheer me on, I would greatly appreciate it.  Anybody who brings me a diet coke on the route has my undying love and devotion (it's true, ask Martin, but I still think he should wear a Sens jersey and consume mass quantities of alcohol when, yes WHEN, the Sens win the Stanley Cup).  I've copied the location of the cheering stations below.  And if anyone is up for it, your presence at the end of the route would be awesome.  I'd have to say, that was my biggest regret about last year -- that I didn't ask anyone to welcome me back when I was done.  All walkers need to be back by 3pm (I'm fairly sure I'll be close to the end of the pack -- depends on how early I get started on Sunday).  If you're thinking about coming for the closing, give me a shout -- I can call or text message you when I'm 5K or so away from the finish line so you can arrange your travel time appropriately.  So far, the forecast is for good weather.  I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

    Back to the Beach

Started playing beach volleyball at Britannia Beach today.  As soon as I drove up, my mind went back to a couple of extraordinary evenings spent at Britannia last summer.  Nice memories.  More sweet than bitter really.  That's a good thing.

Volleyball was pretty good too.  Nice group of people.  The sand was cold and wet, but it was fun to play again.

    Volleyball Update

It was volleyball night.  First of all I was late, because I was taking a class at the Natural Health Center I go to and the class ran late.  Then I had to drive all the way downtown behind people who were going frustrating slow.

Volleyball was great.  We were playing a team that was really good -- they probably should be in the competitive division.  But somehow, that just made us play better.  We actually won a game against this great team.  My closing move was to hit the ball at a weird angle, resulting in hurting my thumb.  I'm sure it will be better next week.

Then I drove home, shopped for my "cleanse" (more on this later), put gas in the car, and put the garbage out.  Now I am going to prepare food for the cleanse.

    Volleyball Update

Well, last night was the last game of the summer season.  We ended up in 7th place (out of 8 teams).  We're not the worst.  Yay us.

Bad news though, the object of my lust, Matthew McConaughey lookalike by the name of Corey did not show up.  Thus I was unable to get a picture of him.  Sad, sad day.

Oh well.  We now have a 2 week break before the fall season starts up.

    Volleyball Update

Another split tonight -- won 3, lost 3.  But overall, our play was good.  Our overhand servers even got some of their serves over the net.  Rah, rah!

We finished our first match a little early which allowed me the opportunity to observe the object of my lust, the Matthew McConaughey lookalike (whose name I have gleaned is Corey).  He is a pretty decent volleyball player.  Good setter.  At one point, he took his hair out of his ponytail.  Oooo baby.  I actually almost swooned.  I don't know what it is with me and my like for long haired, scruffy faced boys with earrings, but man oh man.

Next week I will bring my camera and try to surreptitiously take pictures.  It is the last game of the season, so I have a picture taking excuse.  In the meantime, enjoy looking at Matthew.

    Tonight's Volleyball Performance

The following image accurately describes our team's performance in games 1, 2 and 6 this evening.

So, a mixed bag this evening.  Better than stinking up the whole night, that's for sure.

    Volley-Balls

Every now and then, something happens in real life that you would usually only expect to see in the movies.  Such was the case last night at volleyball.

We are playing volleyball.  I am in the back middle court.  My friend, Y, is in the setting position in front of me.  The ball is on the opposing team's side.  A guy dives for the ball.  He misses.  Y is looking at me with this look on her face that shows that she is trying really, really hard to not burst into hysterical laughter.  She's motioning to the guy that made the dive for the ball.  He is on the ground.  I have no idea what she is talking about.  The guy gets up.  And I see it.  The guy has a hole in his shorts.  And, his balls have managed to make an exit through said hole.  So here's this guy, standing on the volleyball court, balls hanging out of his shorts.  One of the guys on our team sees this and says "Hey, check your shorts ..."  He does, and tucks everything back inside.  End of show.  Poor guy.  He went on with the game though.  Good for him.  Turns out that only the 3 of us on our side of the court noticed.  Y loaned him a pair of shorts for the next game.  He's probably in love with her now.

Other than that, volleyball was uneventful and fun.  I was frequently distracted by the super hot guy playing on the court next to us.  Long hair, beard.  Almost completely my type (he's a little too short and slightly too small to be completely my type, but I surely wouldn't turn him down.)  He has this whole Matthew McConaughey look going on.  Tonight he was playing with no shirt.  Yum.  Next week I think we play his team.  Let's hope for another day of 40 degree heat shall we?  That way he'll probably be shirtless again.  That should make concentration a little difficult for me.

    A Good Spike

Tonight was volleyball night.  I feel happy when I play volleyball.  I am not a great volleyball player, but I am good.  I can hold my own.  I rarely miss a serve.  And I can spike.

Spiking makes me happy.  Tonight, I got off 2 really good spikes.  I like the feeling of hitting the ball.  I also like the reaction of the people around me (usually the opposing team, because my own team mates know I can spike) when they see me spike.  The surprise that a woman, and a shortish, not very athletic looking woman at that, can pull off a spike.  I like to surprise people.

Volleyball is good.  It keeps me sane (yes, I am still sane in spite of what you might think from my blogs).  However, now I have a problem.  I have to play volleyball every week at the same beach where C and I spent our evening together.  And that kind of makes me sad.  Last night I was looking out to the rocks we sat on, to the stretch of beach we sat on, where we kissed.  Sigh.
